Client Brief
Client: Shawnette Thompson, licensed therapist and owner of Talk2Me - Psychotherapy Counselling & Consultation Services
Project Date: January 2023
Background
Shawnette Thompson, an established therapist with a successful practice, reached out through a mutual connection for a brand overhaul and website redesign. As her therapy practice expanded and evolved over the years, Shawnette felt the need for a fresh and contemporary image that would better resonate with her target audience. She expressed her desire for a new logo, refreshed brand identity, and an updated website that would reflect the growth and professionalism of her practice.
Goals
1. Logo Redesign: Shawnette sought a new logo that would capture the essence of her practice - a symbol that represents tranquility, empathy, and personal growth. The new logo should incorporate elements that symbolize healing, balance, and emotional well-being. It should evoke a sense of calmness and instill confidence in potential clients. Shawnette expressed a preference for a simple and elegant design.
2. Brand Identity: A cohesive and modern brand identity was required to ensure consistent representation across all platforms and materials. Shawnette wanted the branding to convey a sense of trust, professionalism, and approachability. The updated brand identity should combine a soothing colour palette that reflects a friendly and knowledgeable brand voice. The typography should be legible and clear, promoting readability across various mediums while maintaining a modern look.
3. Website Redesign: Shawnette also desired a website that would provide visitors with an inviting and user-friendly experience. The updated design should reflect the new branding while emphasizing clarity and accessibility. The website should have a clean and intuitive interface, ensuring easy navigation for visitors. It should display essential information such as services, about, contact details, and testimonials. Integration of calming visuals and imagery that aligns with the new brand identity is encouraged.
Deliverables
1. Logo: Provide multiple logo concepts for Shawnette to choose from, along with variations for different platforms and uses.
2. Brand Guidelines: Produce a comprehensive brand guideline document outlining the logo usage, color palette, typography, and any visual elements that will define Talk2Me's new brand identity.

06 - Takeaway
Over the past few months, we have embarked on an exciting journey of reinventing the logo and brand for Talk2Me Psychotherapy Counselling & Consultation Services. This project aimed to modernize their visual identity and present a more cohesive and compelling brand image. Simultaneously, we also worked on updating their existing website to align with the new brand. As we wrap up this project, it's important to reflect on the key takeaways and learnings from this transformative endeavour.
1. Embrace the Essence
During the logo and brand creation process, we realized that it was vital to capture the essence of Shawnette and her practice while infusing a contemporary touch. By closely examining their core values and mission, we were able to create a brand that truly reflects who Shawnette and her business, Talk2Me Psychotherapy Counselling & Consultation Services are at their core. It taught us the importance of authenticity and aligning the visual identity with their company's aspirations.
2. Collaboration is Key
This project served as a reminder that collaboration across various departments is essential for success. Our multidisciplinary team, including designers, marketers, and developers, worked closely together throughout the process. Sharing ideas, listening to different perspectives, and incorporating constructive feedback resulted in a cohesive brand that harmoniously blends creativity and business objectives. Collaboration not only increased the richness of our options but also fostered a sense of ownership and pride in the final deliverables.
3. Consistency is Crucial
Creating a new logo and brand required meticulous attention to detail. We learned that consistency across all touchpoints, from the logo itself to the colors, typography, and imagery, is crucial for building a strong brand identity. Ensuring consistent application of the brand elements across all platforms, including the revamped website, reinforces the brand's recognition and enhances user experience. Consistency equips us with a powerful tool for brand recall in the fiercely competitive marketplace.
4. User-Centric Website Design
The process of updating Shawnette’s existing website taught us the significance of user-centric design. We examined user behavior, preferences, and expectations to create a website that is intuitive, user-friendly, and aesthetically pleasing. Employing clear information hierarchy, logical navigation, and engaging visuals, we aimed to provide an enjoyable browsing experience. Incorporating responsive design principles also ensured an optimal experience across devices, boosting accessibility and broadening their reach.

Every client has unique preferences, requirements, and expectations, which may evolve throughout the project. Being adaptable allows us to effectively respond to these changes and adjust our approach accordingly.
